Volunteer
“Volunteer” seems like such a simple word. But Rainforest Falls is more than signing your name on a list — it’s the return of Vacation Bible School and the launch of Children’s Chapel at Community UMC.
For many of us, this is something we’ve prayed about for a long time: bringing vibrant children’s ministry back to life in our church.
Now it’s our turn to come together as a community to make it happen — sharing God’s love through games, crafts, songs, lessons, laughter… and yes, probably a little bit of chaos.
So we ask you to pray about it. And if you feel moved, volunteer.
There is a place for everyone.
Not sure you can keep up with the kids? That’s okay — we have roles for all energy levels.
Many hands make lighter work, and every role matters. Whether you greet families with a smile or wave goodbye reminding each child how important they are, you help make this week possible.
🌿 Safer Sanctuary
Safer Sanctuaries Training Required for Children's Ministry Volunteers
Everyone who serves with our children's ministries—including Vacation Bible School (VBS), Trailblazer Kids (our Children's Chapel program)—is required to complete our updated Safer Sanctuaries training.
Even if you completed the training last year, the revised training must be completed again.
-
Volunteers under 18 years old: A background check is not required.
-
Volunteers 18 and older: A current background check is required. If you're unsure whether yours is still valid, please contact the church office.
The Safer Sanctuaries training is available online using the link below. After watching the training, you will need to complete the accompanying acknowledgment form. Please pick up a copy of the Safer Sanctuaries Policy and the required form from the church office (or the next time you're at church). The completed form will be kept on file in the church office.
Once you have completed the training, please let Office Chriss know so we can update our records.
Thank you for helping us provide a safe, welcoming, and caring environment for all of our children!

🌿 Be in the know
Communication Is Key
My goal is for every volunteer to arrive on Monday, August 10, feeling confident and knowing exactly what to do.
If you have any questions before or during VBS, please ask! Nothing should be left to chance. If you're unsure about your station, your responsibilities, or think of something we may have missed, let me know. I'd much rather answer a question ahead of time than discover we overlooked something during the week.
We're all on the same team, and good communication is one of the best ways we'll make Rainforest Falls a success!
Volunteer Expectations
Thank you for being part of Rainforest Falls VBS! Your willingness to serve is what makes this week possible.
Volunteer Hours
-
Volunteers are expected to be on site each day from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
-
VBS concludes at noon, with the final hour reserved for cleanup, resetting stations, and preparing for the next day's activities.
-
Our goal is for everyone to be finished and heading home by 1:00 p.m. (1:30 p.m. at the absolute latest).
Daily Activity Bins
Each station will receive a set of daily activity bins. Simply grab the bin labeled for that day's activities (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc.). Everything you'll need for the day will be inside.
End-of-Day Preparation
Every station will also receive a daily to-do list outlining exactly what needs to be completed before leaving. This ensures your area is ready for the next morning and helps the week run smoothly for everyone.
Please take a few minutes at the end of each day to:
-
Clean and organize your station.
-
Restock supplies as directed.
-
Complete your station's daily checklist.
-
Set out anything needed for the following morning.
We Still Need Help!
We're still looking for a few volunteers to help in the kitchen during Waffle Church. If you're available to lend a hand, we'd love to have you join the team!
🌿So You're a Crew Leader?!
Cat, Alyssa, Ada, Emmet, Deuce, Mason, and Jaxon
**Please Note we will not be assigning each child a job. You will travel as a pack, no need to complicate it.**
Crew Leaders are expected to particiapate as leaders of their crew in opening and closing songs and motions!
