Join us for an OWLs luncheon featuring retired history professor, local author, and longtime Elm Grove resident Stephen K. Hauser! His presentation, “Following the Trail: The Origins of Blue Mound Road,” will take us on a fascinating journey from an ancient Indigenous trail to the busy road we know today. Drawing from his book, Following the Trail: A History of the Elmbrook Area, he’ll share stories of Brookfield, Goerkes Corners, and Elm Grove. Discover how generations of travelers, pioneers, and growing communities helped shape this familiar route. Whether you’ve lived here for decades or are new to the area, this program offers a chance to connect with our community’s past. You may never look at your next drive down Bluemound Road quite the same way! Come enjoy lunch, fellowship, and a fresh look at the history right in our own backyard.

Spend the day discovering two unique Milwaukee treasures!
Our first stop is the Grohmann Museum, where art and industry come together in fascinating ways. The museum is home to more than 2,000 paintings, sculptures, and works on paper depicting the evolution of human work—from farming and skilled trades to industry and technology.
In the afternoon, we’ll visit Milwaukee Urban Stables, home to the Milwaukee Police Department’s Mounted Patrol and a one-of-a-kind facility bringing together horses, community outreach, and equine-assisted therapy. We’ll learn about their mission and tour the impressive facility, including the 24-horse stalls and indoor and outdoor riding arenas.
Come along for a fun and fascinating day in downtown Milwaukee filled with art, history, horses, and great company!
