Music at Community
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” – Colossians 3:16

Music at Community
Here at Community, music of all kinds is a vital part of worship. From piano preludes to organ postludes, guitar solos to handbell anthems, from chant to spirituals to contemporary music, we embrace the fact that God can and does speak to us through any form of music, as long as our ears and hearts are open.
But music isn’t only a vital part of worship: weekly rehearsals are when the musical ensembles here form Communities of their own, offering support in the hard times and cheering each other on when times are good. If you want more music, more laughter, and more opportunities to make a joyful noise in your life, there’s room for you in the music ministries at Community!

Advent Cantata 2026
This year, our Advent cantata will feature a favorite of CUMC singers and of our congregation: Night of the Father’s Love by Pepper Choplin. All of the mystery, the awe, and the palpable excitement of that night are imaginatively captured in a Christmas mosaic that combines fragments of the familiar with a unique perspective in word and music. Night of the Father's Love skillfully guides the listener through the Christmas story, as though hearing it again for the first time, featuring an intriguing array of musical styles that range from an energetic Celtic style to a simple folk melody and the lush imagery of a ballad all beautifully express the essence of Christmas: the gift of the Father's love.
