Music at Community
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” – Colossians 3:16

Music at Community
Here at Community, music of all kinds is a vital part of worship. From piano preludes to organ postludes, guitar solos to handbell anthems, from chant to spirituals to contemporary music, we embrace the fact that God can and does speak to us through any form of music, as long as our ears and hearts are open.
But music isn’t only a vital part of worship: weekly rehearsals are when the musical ensembles here form Communities of their own, offering support in the hard times and cheering each other on when times are good. If you want more music, more laughter, and more opportunities to make a joyful noise in your life, there’s room for you in the music ministries at Community!

Joyful Noises: Reading and Singing Our Hymns
After Service on November 9th
The Connection
To sing is to pray twice... and we have the opportunity to pray many times through congregational song during each of our services! But how can we use our hymnals to help us sing more joyfully and prayerfully? And how does singing actually work, anyway?
On November 9th, join Director of Music Danielle Bridges in the Revelation Room after service to learn more about reading musical notation in hymnals and the skill of singing. Bring your questions and come ready to practice singing together! All are welcome—especially anyone who’s ever joked that staying quiet is their gift to everyone around them!

The Star That Shines Above
December 14th, 2025
Sometimes saying "yes" to God's call fills us with fear. We fear, just like Mary, when she was told she would give birth to the Messiah, that we aren't enough. That we'll be alone. That no one will listen. And yet, God calls us forward, inviting us to live fully into who we are created to be and promising to be with us as we move forward through our fear, every step of the way. On December 14th, Community United Methodist Church's Festival Choir and Festival Orchestra present a musical reflection on what it means to say yes to God, featuring beloved Christmas carols and songs that remind us that courage isn't an absence of fear, but a choice that we make despite it.
