Frequently asked questions
Community offers one Sunday worship service at 9:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary. The service is relaxed, with familiar hymns and piano accompaniment. On the first Sunday of each month, we celebrate Holy Communion, and all believers are welcome to participate. Prefer to join from home? Watch live on Facebook Live or catch past sermons on Vimeo.
Community truly has a wonderful mix of people. Our congregation spans all ages — from newborns to folks in their 80s and older! You’ll find just about every type of person here: married, single, divorced, widowed, professionals, workers, retirees, life-long Elm Grove residents, and those who have just recently moved to the area.
But even more important than who attends is who is welcome here — everyone!
If you’re looking to become a part of Community UMC, there are many ways to get involved. Visit the Ministries page to find a group or ministry that best fits your interests and passions. We’d love for you to join us!
Good news: there’s no dress code at Community. You’ll see everything from “Sunday best” to slacks, a comfy tee, or your favorite jeans. We believe the most important part of Sunday morning is arriving ready to worship God together.
Yes. Children’s Chapel (4–12) runs during our 9:30 a.m. service, and the Nursery (0–3) is open most Sundays 9:10am-11:15am.
For Children's Church families start in worship; children move to Chapel afterward, and littles can go to Nursery anytime.
For little ones who want to stay in worship, we offer Grace Space—an area at the front of the Sanctuary with quiet play activities. And please don’t worry about wiggles or whispers; the sounds of children are signs of life in our church.
The Connection is a time after the Sunday service for fellowship, chat, snacks and coffee! Everyone is welcome at The Connection! We would love to see you there!
There’s always something happening at Community UMC—from ministries to groups to special events. Take a look, and if you’d like to learn more, call the Church Office at 262-782-4060.
At Community UMC we "NOAH" guy 🤣
We strive to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere at Community. We greet one another so everyone feels at home; share announcements and church news; sing together and enjoy our choir’s beautiful music; lift up joys and concerns in prayer; read Scripture and reflect through the sermon; collect an offering to further God’s work; and celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of every month.
Oh ya, you betcha! We take communion each month as a tangible reminder of God’s gift to us in Jesus Christ. We believe in open communion – that means that anyone who believes in Jesus Christ is welcome to take communion, whether they are a church member or not. Communion is always the first Sunday of each month as well as Maundy Thursday.
