Quarterly Mission Partner
Each quarter, Community UMC partners with a different local nonprofit through our Quarterly Mission Partner program—joining together to meet real needs and make a lasting impact. From collecting supplies and raising awareness to volunteering side by side, these partnerships allow us to live out our call to love God and neighbor in tangible, meaningful ways.
The Gathering
The Gathering of Southeastern Wisconsin, founded in 1962. is one of the largest volunteer-driven meal programs in the state. The organization provides free, freshly prepared meals, and supportive services to individuals and families experiencing hunger, homelessness, poverty, and social isolation throughout Milwaukee County. Nearly 130,000 meals were served on 2025. 14 free meals are served weekly at 4 primary sites. 1,500-2,000 volunteers provided 13,000 hours in 2025.
Breakfasts are served M-F at 5 sites, dinner is servec M and W at 1 site and lunches are served Saturdays at several sites.
In addition to meals, guests may access housing referrals, legal assistance, hygiene and street outreach supplies, recovery and case management resources, Showers of Hope, Aurora Medical Van, and harm reduction resources.
Meal sites serve as trusted community spaces where individuals can connect with support systems that addressee root causes of hunger and homelessness. This is especially true at the breakfast program.
The lunch program provides opportunity for students, business people , and groups to volunteer.
(Community United Methodist Church volunteered the very first Saturday, lunch on Jan.6, 1982.
