MISSION TRIP NEWS

 

Auction Update

Thanks to ALL who contributed goods, bought tickets, worked, or prayed for the positive outcomes of the “Generous by Nature” Youth Auction held on April 5th.  A wonderful time was had by all, and the event generated just over $7,000 for the mission trip! Congratulations and thank you to all who took part.    

 

Wait List

Our mission trip roster is full, but interested youth can sign up to be on the wait list for our trip to Northern Minnesota this summer, July 11th-18th.  See www.cumceg.org for more details. 

 

Flower Sale

Our current fundraiser is the spring flower sale, where many of our church members get their hanging flower baskets and other flowers. Please see page 15 of this Welcome Word or any participating youth if you’d like to support our mission trip by purchasing some flowers, which will be available for pick up/delivery on May 17th. 

Youth:  Find detailed instructions on this fundraiser under the youth bulletin board (also attached to the last mission trip e-mail), and then use attached order form to sell to your family, neighbors, parents’ co-workers, and anyone who wants some flowers. A percentage of everything you sell goes straight to your mission trip account! Please turn in orders by Friday, May 9th.  

Contact Timyra (info below) to sign up to sit at a table and sell during coffee hour in Fellowship Hall and to sign up to work a shift on the morning of flower delivery day, May 17th.  

 

HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH

 

June 1st – Graduate Recognition Sunday.

High School graduates, please contact Timyra Cowling (contact info below) and let her know that you will be at the 10:30am service on June 1st to be honored by your church community.  

 

June 16th-18th Vacation Bible School.  Every year youth have a great time helping with the little kids at VBS.  Contact Tracy Meser at 262-782-4060 ext. 222 to volunteer this summer.  Mission trip participants may receive a small offering toward their accounts as a thank you for their service, but everyone who wants to help kids learn about the Bible is encouraged to take part!

 

Youth Fellowship Schedule

May 4th – Movie night & potluck! We’ll watch The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe in preparation for the release of Prince Caspian. These movies are based on C.S. Lewis’ classic Christian allegories by the same names.  Location TBA – check your mail, the church website, or call Timyra’s cell at 414-208-6725. This will run past the regular 7pm YF ending time.

May 11th – No YF. Happy Mother’s Day!

May 18th –  Prince Caspian at the Majestic theatre. Bring $10 for admission and snacks.  

May 25th – Stress Reduction & Relaxation – just in time for exams.

High School YF Mission Trip

 Summer 2008


July 11th-18th

Open to students entering 9th grade in fall of ‘08 to current 12th graders


5 days at a Youthworks! Indian reservation mission site in Cass Lake, MN


PLUS 2 day canoe trip in the beautiful Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota. Cited one of the top “places to see before you die,” the Boundary Waters offer an extreme nature experience.

Cost: $550

Ample fundraising opportunities will be provided.
